The city of Montreal was rocked by a tragic shooting near the headquarters of Aylo the parent company of Pornhub on June 22, 2026. The incident, which left three individuals dead, including a police officer and a civilian, has drawn significant attention due to the suspect’s alleged ties to the incel (involuntary celibate) movement and a disturbing manifesto outlining his violent intentions.
The suspect, identified as Seth Hatfield a 34-year-old police officer from Lethbridge, Alberta, targeted the area near the Hilton Hotel in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood. The shooting resulted in the deaths of Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane a dedicated police officer, and Michael Mizrahi a 68-year-old civilian known for his generosity. Another police officer was injured but is currently in stable condition.
The Suspect’s Manifesto and Incel Ideology
A manifesto attributed to Hatfield was found, filled with rhetoric commonly associated with the incel movement. The document blames pornography companieswomen and various other groups for male suffering. Hatfield’s writings criticize capitalism and list potential targets, including politicians, influential Zionists, elite bankers, and wealthy pornographic actors or actresses.
The manifesto promotes incel ideology about the so-called hypergamy state where women are encouraged to date multiple attractive males rather than being bound to just one. It outlines steps to create a new order that would restrict the economic and sexual freedoms of women. The document ends with a chilling instruction: Be unflinching, go forth, and KILL THEM ALL!
Community Response and Lockdown
The shooting prompted a three-hour lockdown in the Côte-des-Neiges area, with residents urged to shelter in place. Witnesses described a terrifying scene, with gunshots echoing through the neighborhood and people seeking cover in nearby businesses. Mordy Aisenstark, a manager at a pizza restaurant near the site, recounted seeing the shooter in camouflage lying dead on the ground with a firearm nearby.
Montreal Police Chief Fady Dagher addressed the public, stating that the immediate threat to the public is no longer present and calling the shooting a tragedy. The police officer who was fatally shot, Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane was remembered for his dedication and bravery. The civilian victim, Michael Mizrahi was described as a generous man who sold suits for a living and was a respected member of Montreal’s Jewish community.
